At our Playford ball last year we had 4 young people came who were very enthusiastic, had took a lot of trouble to dress up, but of course were not as experienced as some of the older dances, someone has complained and suggested we vet the people applying for tickets to make sure they can dance. As Chairman of a club it puts me in a difficult position, I want to encourage the youngsters ( in their late 20s) to keep coming, but I do not want to loose my regular members.
What do people think?
Hi David. Welcome to the forum. I think your regular members need to chill out. Of course younger members should be encouraged to join in. If possible, contact them directly and invite them to your next event. Try to avoid anything too heavy-handed like "You need to attend our club for special training before you can take part". Give them the freedom to participate as they wish.
